After almost a year of preparation, the Carmeins have embarked on a year-long journey in their RV. Departing on August 30th, we felt a mix of excitement and curiosity about what the future holds. What knowledge will we gain, whom will we meet, and how will this experience shape us?
Many people have asked us questions about this trip - we thought a FAQ page would be interesting.
Who's idea was this trip? - David thinks it was his and Judy thinks it was hers - marriage is like that.
Where are you going? We are chasing nice weather around the country in an approximate clockwise direction.
How did you pick the stops? - W prioritize National Parks and spending time with friends. We created a list of all the parks and friends we plan to visit, marking them on a large map of the United States. Judy discovered a useful tool called RV Trip Wizard that helped us plan out some specifics. Parts of the schedule are still to be determined, so we'll be flexible and go with the flow.
Can we come of visit you? - We would love family and friends to visit. Text or email Judy or David - we will send you a copy of the current itinerary. Take a look and find something that works with your schedule and we can try to make it happen.
How many National Parks do you plan to visit? - 31 - We are grateful to Roosevelt and other visionaries who created and supported these magnificent parks.
What kind of camper do you have? - We are currently on the journey with a 30-foot 5th Wheel camper (refer to the image). A 5th Wheel is a camper that is towed by a pickup truck and attaches to the truck's bed.
