We stayed at Acadia National Park for 6 nights. Initially, we were squeezed into a small campsite at Seawall Campground on Mount Desert Island, the park's most popular area. We had a packed day engaging in typical tourist activities like hiking Gorham Mountain, witnessing the thunder hole, and biking on the carriage trails. Despite it being late September and the off-season, the park was bustling with visitors. The park's allure is understandable due to its beautiful views and the well-maintained carriage trails that offer a a perfect e-biking experience through picturesque landscapes. Although we attempted to dine at Jordan Pond House Restaurant, the long wait led us to settle for ice cream bars and lemonade ($25.00 ouch!).
After a tiring day, we loaded the bikes, but Judy's misunderstanding of the bike rack caused David's bike to fall off while we were driving. Luckily, a kind driver behind us alerted us, enabling a quick recovery with minimal damage. Despite this mishap, the bike remains usable, and our next destination involves visiting biking enthusiast friends in the Boston area who can assist in getting the bike repaired.
So far, we are breaking about 0.6 things per day. Hopefully that number will decrease with time. :)
We relocated our camper to Schoodic Woods Campground, located within the park and approximately an hour away. We were amazed. It's the finest campsite we've ever encountered. A massive pull-through site that offers complete seclusion from our neighbors. Truly a slice of paradise.
This side of the park is very quiet and no crowds! We have had a wonderful 4 days of biking and hiking. We hiked to the top Black Mountain where views rivaled Cadillac mountain and only saw a few other people.
“WOW” says it all David!
